One of my favourite travel quotes, the one we often see with a filter-enhanced landscape backdrop, reminds us that it’s not the destination, but the journey that really matters more. And the means of moving is thus important if it’s indeed about the journey. Here comes a fun option of traveling – a road tripping with friends! Inside the carpool, we listen together with our friends to a playlist of travel and YOLO-themed songs. We are shooting the first frames of our travel video by our favourite action cam with our selfies and roads traveled before the first destination. The moments with the wanderlust wolf pack are worth sharing than the destinations themselves.
Traveling away from Manila leads to little infinities of options. Imagine your friends in a road trip to a Philippine gem city and currently vying to be one of the New 7 Wonder Cities of the World – Vigan. It is more than 400 kilometers or 5 hours travel away from Manila. Surely it is a long trip. But to see the Heritage Village, one of the best well-preserved community and a UNESCO World Heritage Site is all worth the distance. This is an experiential education outside the classroom that your whole gang will surely enjoy than reading a geography textbook.
To make this alternative classroom experience an enjoyable and memorable one, we also need to check the list of things we should prepare. First is the car – its fuel (I am going to tell you something about this later) and its safety. Things that we should bring like enough money at hand, mp3 player, power banks, cameras, zip locks to waterproof our gadgets and other stuff, light set of clothes and toiletries. Of course, our healthy selves so don’t forget to rehydrate and to food-refill.
Apart from the fun reasons why we travel with our travel team, we road trip to our teenage dreams because it is also an economic option. The cost is split among friends.
There’s also one way that I’ve found to lessen the cost in road tripping – BDO Rewards Card. Think of it like an SM Advantage Card. Here, you earn SM shopping points for qualified bank transactions at BDO and for purchasing your favorite items and needs from SM. You can read more about the simple rewards system here: https://www.bdo.com.ph/bdo-rewards/how-program-works
Start collecting points as soon as you get into the program. With just at least 500 BDO Rewards points out of your purchases and bank transactions, you can now convert these reward points in exchange of Shell Fuel Vouchers starting July 1. What a rewarding way to start the second half of the year right?
And because you earn more mileage for free, you can also visit the nearby destinations like Paoay Church, Sand Dunes and Malakanyang of the North. You can even travel way up north in Ilocos Norte to complete the Ilocandia experience and see the Bangui Windmills, Kapurpurawan Rock Formations and Pagudpud Beach
Are you ready to see Luzon’s north frontier?
