20 Travelers I Follow (Part 2)

Whatever social networking place you go in the interwebs, once that travel bug had bitten you, it is automatic to pin, to repost and to follow features and influencers of travel. Case in point, our favorite photo sharing app – the Instagram.

Set aside the local celebrities who at their boiling points passive-aggressively sharing quotes or your friends so full or fool of themselves with self-portraits. Instagram is good place to draw travel inspiration from if you know the good accounts and hashtags to follow. They’re so many of them!

Last time, I presented you ten of the bloggers and travelers that I follow. Here, I list down the other half of the elite circle. Instagram Edition.

11. @aieos

Getting around the city is not my cup of tea until I stumbled upon this concrete jungle dweller. Because of his works, I was influenced to look up as well to appreciate the patterns and parallels of still and steel structures of the metropolis.

It is refreshing to see a feed of places that I’ve already been but the photographer had a different take on such places. I am a late travel blogger in my niche. Drawing some inspiration from him, I am now mindful on how to present the tourist places in a different perspective when I share the images to my readers.

13. @blogalag

She’s been in my Facebook feed in my network of bloggers. But it was really her Instagram posts that caught my attention. She’s jumping one restaurant to another where most of them I haven’t heard of. I don’t normally splurge on food but her posts are so inviting to have some relationship affair with food.

14. @happytummytravels

Imagine a nomnom top view of landscapes of calories and sweets. How can you resist them? If only Instagram had a download food button next to the like, our stomach would be as satisfied as our eyes.

Of all the great people in this second list, Elei is the only person I’ve met personally yet after following. I was a fan of his off-the-beaten adventures captured by GoPro lens. He’s a chaser of waterfalls which even Cebuanos aren’t familiar with. He works in a cruise line and so used to the beaches in American continents. Thus, the Philippine waters and mountains are his refreshers. Prediction: He’s the next big thing in the travel sphere.

I learned he is as a portrait and fashion photographer after I looked on his profile during a conference we both attended held for the creatives years ago. When I became active in the legitimate artsy side of Instagram, I discovered that he is a landscape photographer too. In fact, he is an established rockstar in Instagram.

Instagram: NELLAL

17. @nellal

I like what she does. She is a mountain hiker and a beach lover. She documents her trips genuinely with humans as my favourite subjects of hers. Because of the feel-light vibes of her snapshots, her treks to mountains seem to be a breeze.

It is a reciprocal following. He’s been with my blogging journey since Facebuko days and I became his follower when I realized there’s more to learn about travel photography. His works are my pointers.

No introduction needed for this guy because you probably have bookmarked his itinerary from his blog. If your itchy feet needs some miles to walk but for some reasons couldn’t escape reality, let the fingers do the scroll and stroll for the mean time.

I am not really certain if he is from UST because his posts have been about the places outside the Philippines. Sure, all of us have our own bucket list. Looking at his stream adds justification to the same places found on my list. That really excites me.

Shameless Plug:

I have a handful of Instagram accounts. Two of which are about my travel photos.

@parangpagibig

Straight from the success of the viral Parang Pag-ibig series and incorporating my fondness of iPhone photography, I created this account to relate hugot stuff with the places I’ve been. I also do some grid management in my feed. The challenge is to capture my travels with the reliable tool of trade – iPhone. (This is a foreshadowing of my next list – the strictly mobile photographers!)

@wanderingweekendwarrior

This is an auxiliary account of this blog where I post my daily photo project. Every day, one photo shot from a digital camera, is uploaded to promote our beautiful country, the republic of fun – the Philippines. #JonasPH365 is one of my New Year’s resolution to be one of the tourism ambassadors of the country.

An adventurer who travels light leave their heavy and bulky cameras at home. It is a smarter preference. In my opinion, if someone is not going to make money out of selling his photographs, then it would be better for him to take the smartphones with him in travel instead....
