95. University of Santo Tomas

For the first time in forever, I finally stepped inside the gated campus of University of Santo Tomas. I was looking for this day to come since I used to know only few facts about the university along España Blvd and I want to learn more about the den of the Growling Tigers.

Few trivia bits that I knew already: First is what the Philippine history books had told us – UST is the oldest existing university in Asia. Another fact is that it houses Salinggawi Dance Troupe, an archrival of UP Pep Squad in Cheerdance Competition in UAAP. That among the university confession Facebook pages, I find the the UST Files as the library of the most lovestruck stories of hugot and sparks that will defy Kirchhoff’s Law. And of course, who could forget Popoy and Basha of One More Chance?

Good thing my friend, Alexis, was there to accompany me around his Alma Mater. It was a sunny All Souls Day in a Sunday. An unobstructed photowalk is possible. I strolled around the campus with my smartphone and an open heart. And here’s how it went.

 

Structures

With that facial contours and the abs, I am convinced that one of the four statues took its inspiration and form from its alumnus Piolo Pascual. Charlene Gonzalez is also said to be one of the models too.

Lovers Lane

Or just another pedestrian lane for someone na may pinagdadaanan? Pinagdadaanan = Pedestrian. Haha. Although I have to ask him first about any curse he knows about walking as single in a lane meant for two.
